Since the last time I wrote here, RedBrick has continued to grow, both in people power and ambition. It hasn’t been an easy two years, but it has been both exciting and fulfilling. We have faced many challenges with each individual project, overcome those challenges and gained a lot of experience as a result. IDEA – Infill Development in Edmonton Association

Yesterday Paul and I helped launched a little project we have been working on for almost a year, the Infill Development in Edmonton Association (IDEA).  This association will promote and advocate for high quality infill development in Edmonton, and work to create opportunities for collaboration between all stakeholders involved in the development of infill.  We invited a number of Edmonton’s biggest infill champions to the IDEA Founding 50 Launch Party at a beautiful home designed by talented local architect Louis Pereira at www.thirdstone.ca.  Everyone had a chance to tour the home... A bee is never as busy as it seems; its just that it can’t buzz any slower.

                  It has been a busy year thus far, as we focus more and more on building cool stuff.  The first quarter of 2013 has been spent tirelessly working on the Low Density Bylaw changes, and a few exciting projects we have in the works that will be announced shortly. Imagine the possibilities: our submission for a new Civic Office Tower

We had already been looking at this site in particular, when the Request For Expressions of Interest came from the City of Edmonton for a new Civic Tower.  We knew that the responses this RFEI would prompt from the development community would be fairly predictable.  This is where we saw an opportunity.  An opportunity to not only throw our hat in the ring and show what our team can do, but also to raise the bar and expectations in the community.  Whether our submission is selected or not, we hope...
